About

Kevin Degidon has worked as a paraprofessional in New York City public schools for nine years and was formally appointed at Lower Manhattan Arts Academy for the last four. In that time, he worked extensively with students with various learning disabilities. Kevin has assisted students from preschool through 12th grade in numerous academic, social and character-building settings, and in that time he has achieved many wondrous accolades and joyous reflective moments. Of his cherished accomplishments, Kevin worked with students who would not pick up a book, but through targeted personal interest-driven material, he got them so enthused that they ultimately ordered their own books for the school library. He also has supported students who were so self-conscious that they would not participate academically or socially, but he helped boost their confidence to the point that they made friends their age and took an active role in the classroom.

It is such mementos as these which warm his heart and get him up early every day, eager to work with students who need it most. Indeed, he has never considered this occupation a job but a calling.
