The College Office

Welcome to UA Maker's College and Career Office!

Our mission:
UA Maker aims to provide an immersive postsecondary curriculum. Each week in advisory, students participate in structured lessons that build upon their postsecondary education through college and career exploration, building their college list through a "best fit" scope, college application completion, financial aid education and completion, and matriculation tasks. All students will graduate Maker with a plan, no matter the postsecondary pathway they choose.

April 2026:

Seniors:

April is a very important month! Over the past four years, seniors have worked incredibly hard inside and outside of the classroom. By May 1st, all seniors planning to attend college MUST decide and commit to one college. Throughout April, seniors will be preparing to make this decision by ensuring that they have completed all of their financial aid applications, regularly check each college portals for new statuses and updates, and begin collecting their financial aid awards.

Choosing a college is a big decision! In Senior Seminar and Advisory, seniors will start comparing their top choice schools to find their best fit. Students will also be meeting with Amanda B for their final 1 on 1 meeting. In that 30 minute meeting, seniors will have their top 3-4 choices readily available and ranked, copies of all financial aid packages, and have spoken to their guardians beforehand. Families are a big part of the college choice! Many times families become part of our final 1 on 1 meetings!

Juniors:

April will be a very productive month for juniors! Juniors have been introduced to their own version of a "College Tracker" and will begin researching CUNY, SUNY, and Private schools. By the end of the year, Juniors should have filled up their entire tracker.

Juniors will also have upcoming college trips and college representative visits this month! While Amanda B focuses on helping seniors select their best fit college, juniors can request additional meetings with Amanda B outside of school hours (before or after school).

In May, Amanda B will focus on both juniors and seniors and will be available for student meetings, family meetings, and more.

Family Intake Form:
  • During 1 on 1 meeting with Amanda B, students will be given a Family Financial Intake Form. We encourage every family to fill this out and return it to the College Office (Room 408) or email it to [email protected].
  • This form will allow the College Office to determine if a student is eligible for opportunity programs, scholarships, and will aid in helping to build a college list. This intake form along with your 2025 taxes are essential in completing financial aid applications. We strongly encourage every junior family to complete this form and have your child submit it to the College Office.
