The College Office

Welcome to UA Maker's College and Career Office!

Our mission:
UA Maker aims to provide an immersive postsecondary curriculum. Each week in advisory, students participate in structured lessons that build upon their postsecondary education through college and career exploration, building their college list through a "best fit" scope, college application completion, financial aid education and completion, and matriculation tasks. All students will graduate Maker with a plan, no matter the postsecondary pathway they choose.

April:
April will be an exciting and eventful month for both juniors and seniors at Maker! Juniors will continue the college process in their advisories, and the seniors will begin to compare their financial aid awards and begin to make their final decisions!

Seniors:
In April, seniors will complete their TAP application. FAFSA has not begun to process, and many schools have begun sending financial aid award letters to accepted students. If students need to edit their FAFSA due to errors or missing signatures, they will be allowed to start making corrections in mid-April. Students will also be able to add more colleges to their FAFSA in mid-April.

Due to the FAFSA delays, many colleges have pushed back their commitment deadlines from May 1st to May 15th or June 1st. Below are commitment day deadlines:

CUNYs (ALL): June 1
SUNY (some): May 15
*Many private schools have kept their May 1st deadline

Juniors:
On April 4th, the College Office hosted Junior Family Night for the Class of 2025! We thank you all so much for attending and look forward to working with your child and your family throughout this process! Slides and materials will be sent out and posted soon!

In April, students will activate their Scoir account, complete their brag sheet for letters of recommendation, and begin their first draft of their college list. Students will continue to submit their Family Intake Form and accompanying tax documents (2023 taxes). Each 11th grade family is expected to fill out this form and submit it to the College Office. This will allow the College Office to determine if a student is eligible for opportunity programs, scholarships, and will aid in helping to build a college list. Please fill out this form and have your child submit it to the College Office. If you would like to discuss this further, please reach out to Amanda at [email protected]!
