Dear Maker Families,

Can you believe senior year is halfway over? Time has been flying by and your child has been hard at work on their applications, financial aid, opportunity program, and scholarship applications. These next few months are going to fly by, but will be extremely important!

As many of you know, because the FAFSA form was newly remodeled and relaunched this year and finally released as a "soft-launch" on December 31st, 2023, it was not officially released and up and running until the end of January. Unfortunately, while the FAFSA has improved in many ways, there are still many issues that remain.

Here are your FAFSA updates:
-Colleges will not receive your child's FAFSA application until early to mid-March
-Students and families who have to make corrections to their FAFSA form will not be able to do so until mid-March
-Parents who are unable to submit their portion of the FAFSA until mid-March
-Due to the major delay, financial aid award letters will not go out to students until April 1st
-Commitment Day, which is historically been on May 1st, where a student commits to their college and pays a deposit, may be pushed back until May 15th (this will depend on the college)

Financial Aid Announcements:
  • UA Maker's deadline for the student portion of the FAFSA was  Friday, February 16th
  • UA Maker's deadline for the parent portion of the FAFSA is due ASAP
  • TAP Application completion will begin on Monday, March 4th, in small groups in the College Office (2022 State Taxes, 201 form, must be submitted to the College Office for help with the TAP application)

We look forward to finishing off this year strong alongside your family!
