Springboard to Design Program
Springboard to Design encourages and mentors high school students from underrepresented populations to explore the process of theatrical collaboration and the many avenues of American Theatre design. Led by renowned members of the contemporary theatre in the heart of NYC, the Springboard to Design curriculum includes workshops, seminars, and access to important work on and off Broadway. Instructors will consist of award-winning artists who will create a collaborative environment for students, as they explore costume, set, lighting, projection, and sound design.
Applications are due March 15th, 2025.
 
NYC's School Construction Authority High School Summer Internship Program
The Summer Internship Program will run from July 7th – August 15th, 2025, and will expose students to careers in business, construction and construction related areas. SIP provides students with the opportunity to work with industry professionals and explore potential career paths. 
    
Criteria of students we are looking for: 
  
  • NYC public school student 
  • Available for the program duration from July 7th through August 15th. 
  • Must be interested in the fields of Architecture, Business, Construction/Project Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Marketing, Real Estate and or related areas 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and a self-starter  
  • In good academic standing (GPA will be considered) 
  •  Knowledge of MS Office is a plus 
  • Preference will be given to juniors and seniors, but students in any grades level may apply

  • Upload an up-to-date resume to the online application. 
  • Upload or ask a school counselor to send an official high school transcript to [email protected] 
  • Students need to ask a teacher or school counselor to complete the SIP Recommendation Form for them and submit it to SIP directly by March 7th. The form can be downloaded from the SIP page on the SCA website. 
  
Key Dates for the Program:  
  
  • Online application opens January 2nd through March 7th  
  • Notification of the selected students for the interview process: February through March 10th  
  • In-person SIP interviews for selected applicants: February 17-21 through March 21st  
  • Notification of preliminary acceptance into the SIP program by April 7th  
  • Selected students to submit employment application and required documents (I9 documentation and age-appropriate working papers) for selected students: April 14th through April 18th  
  • Selected students bring in original I-9 documents and age-appropriate working papers (for those both after July 7, 2007).  Working papers will be kept with HR and returned to students on the last day of program) 
  • SIP Program begins: July 7th and runs through August 15, 2025   
 
 
Cooper Union Summer STEM 2025
 
Deadline to apply: March 26, 2025, 5:00 pm EST. 

Summer STEM is an opportunity to try engineering for the first time or to dive deeper into engineering teamwork. Each 3- or 6-week class covers college-level topics and activities completed by The Cooper Union undergraduates in their first or second year or explores student and faculty research projects. Current high school students in grades 9, 10, and 11 can apply.  This selective program encourages all curious, compassionate, and college-interested students to apply regardless of prior experience. Summer STEM 2025 occurs July 7-August 14, 2025, Monday - Thursday, 9:00am-3:00pm. All of our classes will be held in person on our campus located at 41 Cooper Square, New York, New York.

Low and moderate income families can apply for financial aid. Students whose family income is 100% of the New York Area Median Income or less can qualify for a full fee waiver.  Students whose family income is up to 120% of the 2024 New York Area Median Income or less can qualify for a partial or full fee waiver. For example, a family of four with a household income between $46,590 - $124,240 is eligible for full financial aid, while a family of four with a household income between $124,241-$155,300 is eligible for partial financial aid. Preference is given to students from New York City Public Schools. You or your parent's citizenship status does not affect your eligibility for a fee waiver.

Summer Arts Institute 2025
APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 26, 2025
Participating students major in dance, theater, concert band, strings, vocal music, film, or visual arts. Students engage in studio work and experiences with professional artists from partnering organizations: American Ballet Theatre, Carnegie Hall, Ghetto Film School, Magic Box Productions, Opening Act, New York Philharmonic, and Studio in a School. 

Through SAI, students develop and improve their technical skills and creative expression in their art form. Time is dedicated to rehearsals, attending professional performances, visiting arts venues, and exploring careers. The Institute culminates with an exhibition and performance showcasing the students’ work. 

To apply to participate in the 2025 Summer Arts Institute, you must complete two steps:
Complete an online application including a student essay.
Submit an online audition following the guidelines for your art form.  Please read all information in its entirety prior to submitting.  Audition upload site will open on November 15, 2024
Applications are due by 10:00 pm on February 26, 2025.
All audition submission materials are due by 10:00 pm on March 2, 2025.  
 
 
Manhattan District Attorney’s High School Internship Program
 

The Manhattan District Attorney’s High School Internship Program is a rigorous five-week internship that provides students with an insider’s view of the criminal justice system. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in workshops and discussions, participate in a mock trial program, develop professionalism in an office setting, and more. Interns will be paid minimum wage.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must reside in Manhattan 
  • Applicants must be current sophomores, juniors, or seniors 
  • Applicants must commit to attending the full five-week session from June 30, 2025 – August 1, 2025
  • Interns will participate in-person Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

Application Requirements

Eligible applicants must provide the following:

  • One-page resume
  • 300-word essay discussing your interest in criminal justice (for example, you may submit an essay discussing what “one standard of justice for all” means to you)

New York State Unified Court System Office for Justice Initiatives Internship
High school students and recent high school graduates (within the last 2 years) 17 years or older at the time program starts, and college students. Those under the age of 18 must obtain an employment certificate, also called working papers, in order to hold a job in NYS. Applicants under the age of 17 as of July 7, 2025, will be disqualified.
 
We are committed to providing an interactive program where participants are involved in various aspects of court operations and will develop a concrete understanding of the Judiciary, civil, family, and criminal justice systems, and the roles of professionals working in service of our mission. Participants will be exposed to court processes; educated on applicable laws, rules, and protocols; and informed about careers available within the Judiciary.
 
Students will also acquire an understanding on ethical and professional practices and Code of Conduct for employees; receive hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced professionals; and gain civic knowledge to serve the public good as members of a culturally diverse, democratic society.
There are multiple opportunities available throughout the state. Interns will be assigned to a District Office (Albany, Schenectady, Syracuse, Binghamton, Rochester, Buffalo, White Plains, Mineola, and Central Islip), a NYC Chief Clerk's Office, or the Office of Court Administration (NYC or Albany). The Internship program will run from July 7, 2025 through August 13, 2025. Candidates should have an interest in working and learning about the justice system and/or legal profession. Students who are economically disadvantaged or come from under-served communities are encouraged to apply
 
Cooper Union Summer Arts Intensive (scholarships available!!!)
 
The Cooper Union Summer Art Intensive offers high school students (ages 15–18 & rising sophomores–seniors) the opportunity to immerse themselves in art making in an art college environment with professional instruction alongside classmates who share their passion for art and design. Current Cooper Union undergraduates serve as teaching assistants to support student success and enrich the student experience.
Students in the program choose from the concentration sections with courses in Drawing, Animation, Painting (NEW!), Graphic Design, Studio Practice (reserved for rising seniors). All students will participate in field trips to museums, galleries, and artists’ studios. In the final week of the program, an exhibition will be mounted showcasing program-created work and for the celebratory opening event we will invite family, friends, and colleagues to view and congratulate the artists. All materials and museum entry fees are included in tuition.
 
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must currently attend a New York City public high school within the five boroughs (Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island), be between 15–18, and are currently a rising sophomore–rising senior. To apply for the scholarship, first, make a login on Slate and create a new application. The first question you will be asked is if you attend a New York City public school; choose "Yes". You will then be asked if you are applying for the scholarship; choose "Yes". By choosing yes, the you will be directed to the scholarship application where you will be asked to submit a short written component and your portfolio. Please read the directions carefully. Applicants who do not meet requirements will not be considered. 
 
 
The Met High School Internship Program
 
The Met High School Internship Program offers paid opportunities for students who are two to three years from graduating high school (in grades 10 and 11) or obtaining their High School Equivalency degree and who, on the application deadline date, either reside in or attend a high school or home school in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut. This program allows students to connect with art, museums, and creative professionals as they develop professional skills, network, and gain work experience.
This internship experience is not limited to young people who have a passion for art! The High School Internship Program allows you to connect one-on-one and in small cohorts with Museum professionals in a number of related fields, including editorial, marketing, social media, education, scientific research, conservation, and more. During your time at The Met, you have the chance to find the intersection of your interests as you gain insights from peers and professionals.

Upon completion of the program, High School Interns receive a stipend commensurate with New York State minimum wage law.

Application deadline: Friday, March 7, 2025, 6 pm ET (interview notification: by Friday, April 18, 2025)

Program dates:

  • Accepted intern and family reception, Saturday, June 21, 2025, 1–3 pm: A two-hour session for interns and at least one parent or guardian to become familiar with the program and its staff and review requirements and expectations.
  • Bootcamp, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, 9 am–5 pm: Eight-hour training and workshop to prepare interns for the internship.
  • Departmental placement: No less than forty hours (10 to 20 hours per week) observing, assisting, and being mentored by a staff member in one of the Museum's departments. The placement is determined by the intern's interests and the department’s internship project. The majority of departmental placement hours take place from Monday, July 7 through Friday, August 8, 2025, 9 am–1 pm and 1–6 pm. Learn more about departmental placements.
  • Teen Fridays: Friday, July 18, and Friday, August 1, 2025, 4:30–6:30 pm
  • Career Labs, Thursday, July 17, and Thursday, July 31, 2025, 1:30–3:30 pm: Two two-hour sessions with curators, educators, designers, conservators, and other staff who discuss their professional paths and roles at the Museum and lead workshops during which interns try out an element of their work.
  • Biweekly check-ins: One-hour biweekly sessions for interns to meet as a cohort, learn from each other's experiences, meet with mentors, and develop their career readiness skills.
  • Final event and celebration: Friday, August 8, 2025, 5:30–7:30 pm: Interns develop an event to share the insights, experiences, and skills gained through their departmental placements with fellow interns and invited guests.

DOROT's Summer Teen Internship 2025
 
Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors can intern with a diverse group of socially conscious peers to bring vital social connections to older adults. Through one of our four summer teen internship programs, you can develop leadership skills and engage in meaningful programs with older adults. Through a variety of intergenerational activities – including discussion groups, home visits, creative arts and tech assistance – you can give back to the community this summer while earning over 112 community service hours.

Museum of Arts and Design 
Artslife
The applications for Artslife is now open! The application deadline is 11:59 pm on Mon, April 21, 2025.
 
Artslife is a paid summer internship program for 10 rising sophomores and juniors enrolled in New York City public and charter high schools. The internship combines art and design with leadership training, museum studies, and community engagement. Participants are introduced to careers in all sectors of the museum: Curatorial, Education, Development, Communications and Marketing, Visitor Services, Security, and Registrar. The first week of Artslife is dedicated to team bonding and introducing the interns to the Museum. During the remaining five weeks, participants work on collaborative projects with Museum staff, local designers, and arts professionals who act as mentors. Artslife interns enjoy firsthand experience and the broadest possible exposure to ongoing museum activities, both public facing and behind the scenes.
 
Artslife Interns:
Learn about careers in the arts.
Build career readiness.
Create artwork with local and visiting artists in the Artist Studios.
Create a podcast series based on a topic of the interns' choosing.
Develop and lead peer-to-peer tours.
Build and strengthen presentation, communication, and public speaking skills.
Visit other cultural institutions in New York City.
Earn $16.50 an hour.
